BOOK 7 “THE DEATH OF DREAMERS”
Title: THE DEATH OF DREAMERS
Book 7 of "ANOTHER BLUE"
Rayn attempts to free Brahma from captivity and finds him in bad shape. Brahma tells Rayn that Seline is in danger because of the information she carries. The friendship that Brahma has forged with Seline—and Rayn’s awakened interest in her—prompts them to assume the great risk of looking for her instead of simply escaping the Capital Building undetected.
Seline tells the President what she has just learned: Brahma, along with many others, have been tortured and tested far beyond what is humane by General Shutlan. She knows this will adversely affect relations with the “aliens” when it becomes public. President Calum is deeply concerned and confronts Shutlan. An angry debate erupts, instead of resolving the situation with the Senate, the General breaks his sacred oath and assassinates President Calum in his office. Ironically, Shutlan stabbed him with the ancient warrior’s sword that rests on Calum’s desk, a symbol of the deep connection the society has with it’s history, and once again becomes an instrument of death. Calum’s blood runs onto the white marble floor a deep purple, revealing to the audience that Earthlings are in fact the “aliens” and we are not on Earth, but on Ahkam. Unknown to General Shutlan, Seline was witness to the murder hidden in the room.
After the General leaves, Seline comes out of hiding to try to save President Calum’s life. He tries to speak, but the only words that escapes him is “the dreams” as he dies in her arms. Shutlan’s henchmen, sent in to clean up the mess, find Seline crying over his body. They grab her and move to kill her as well. The henchman’s knives move quickly, but Rayn’s knife moves faster. Rayn and Brahma save her life, but Brahma doesn’t survive the fight.
This daring rescue has dire consequences. Rayn loses the only father he’s ever known, Brahma loses his life, and Seline loses her faith and her closest ally in this unravelling government. The political coup that she so feared is upon them, and Rayn’s true identity as one of ‘them’ is revealed, though she has no choice but to trust him.
